Unlike the 4" press, the 6" Economy Press has a bottom cap that slides onto the outside of the cylinder. When removing you can knock it off with a hammer handle or similar tool.

This is a simple, yet effective cheese press.

This kit includes the parts that you cannot buy at your local hardware store - Read the instructions per the link below for more information before buying. All you need to do is add an 8" C clamp and a 7" long piece of 6" diameter GREEN (not white) PVC pipe. Many hardware stores will cut the pipe for you. Also, you can drill 1/8" or less holes 1.5" from the bottom to help drain whey. You should be able to complete the kit for $25 or less.

This is not spring driven like presses that will cost 5-10 times the price, so you will need to adjust it more often than more expensive presses. But it definitely does the job. Do not expect a finely machined kit since low cost and workability is the goal, not looks.
